This is really just an observation, but I wonder if anyone else here has had similar experience. I am, to some extent (time permitting), an athlete, specifically a runner and cyclist. Since I started running competitively about 9 years ago, I've found that certain things help me deal with sore muscles, flushing out lactic acid, relaxing post-workout, etc. Stretching and warming up/down properly are obvious techniques here, but I've also found that drinking green tea helps in all the aforementioned respects. It has really become an integrated part of training for me, and a rather wonderful one at that.
Thoughts or similar experience? |

I always drink a cup of tea before I go for a work out of any kind. Whether it be basketball, martial arts, a jog etc.
I think there have been some studies on tea being good for endurance. Caffeine probably has much to do with that.
It's a psychological thing mostly for me though I suppose. Just part of my ritual before I go work out. |

I've noticed that green tea helps me get in the "Zone." It's great for cardio workouts. It seems like I have much more endurance. Caffiene doesn't really help me that much. I think it's mainly the theanine, then caffiene, then the extra fluids, then all of the vitamins and minerals in the tea.
I really like to make an iced matcha for my workouts. I make myself earn the matcha. I have to do around five min of cardio to earn a sip of matcha. This formula makes a 30-60 min workout go by real fast. greengem |

| If I drink green tea before I workout I tend to feel relaxed and I have trouble mustering the intensity I need. On the other hand, coffee actually increases my intensity. I don't know the physiology behind this, perhaps it is related to the cortisol/theamine interaction. |

Never really noticed a difference before a work-out but overall it has increased my metabolism and I notice it. I'm hungry quicker after a low glycemic meal especially a meal with tea. I eat more and don't gain weight at all, of course working out helps this significantly too.
Picked up and am listening to Putumayo World Music's "Music from the Tealands" CD (ISBN # 158759031X if anyone is interested), a wonderful companion to the S410 I'm sipping - yum! There is only one song from Japan by a musician named Oki who plays a tankori. He is part Ainu and these rare people, mostly from the Northern Island of Hokkaido, consider the tankori, a five-stringed instrument made of wood, a living thing complete with a heart and a hankapuy (bellybutton). Other musicians featured on the CD from Countries of China, India, Pakistan, Iran, etc. Some good music here that will relax you! |

Agreed. Drinking tea before any physical activity helps to relax and focus the mind. |
