Does anyone know how the sencha tea powder compares to matcha for health benefits and antioxidant levels? Am considering adding sencha tea powder to my health drinks if antioxidant levels are anywhere near those of matcha.
Thanks,
David

Hi,

The antioxidant levels of powdered sencha are actually higher than those of matcha, as regular sencha has higher antioxidant levels than gyokuro. It's a sun versus shade grown thing. That said, matcha is tastier (in my opinion) and it's not just antioxidants that are involved. Matcha and shade grown green teas are higher in amino acids. Here's a chart to give you an idea:

Hope that helps!

Thanks, Kevin, for the info and great chart. I plan to mix sencha powder into my drinks and try some as tea. Later I'll try matcha.
