How long do you recommend to keep the same tea leaves in the teapot for new infusions ? If I drink for example 3 cups a day, one in the morning , a second in the afternoon and the third one in the evening, do you recommend to use the same tea leaves?

Thank you

With my kyusu i generally steep first 1 minute, 2nd 10-30 seconds 3rd 30-45 seconds, but all teas are different. which tea are you using? If it's one from o-cha, or one that I've tried i may be able to offer you more help.

For sencha, I try to do all the steeps within a few hours. And since I love sencha, the steeps fly by normally within 30 minutes or so normally. And I do 5 steeps.

Seriously, if you like it, I doubt you would want to wait that long anyway.

Yeah, i would never use wet leaves after more than an hour. also i do usually use them up with in about half an hour give or take. but i expect i would be drinking more tea than you 20-40 cups a day, rarely but sometimes 50+

I've found that you can do the use the same leaves over the course of the day thing but that really it works best to resteep within about an hour of your last one. Unless I was in a pinch and for some odd twist of fate out of tea, I think its best just to use new tea when its been a while, tea is cheap and life is short.

Yeah, if you let the tea sit all day, it wont be bad, but it could have tasted better if you had used it sooner.

You said you got the Yutaka Midori, which is aboslutely amazing, so like Chip said, you wont want to wait that long! However, if you think you'll only be able to have three cups a day because of a tight schedule, maybe you'd like to also try the Daily Sencha.

The Yutaka Midori is right now on its way and I hope to receive it next week. I also placed an order for Daily Sencha and it will arrive a few days after the Yutaka Midori. I'll wait until the Daily Sencha arrives; since it is labeled as a "beginner's tea ", and I am a complete beginner, I would like to try it first and acquire experience in brewing before I try the Yutaka Midori.

I never ordered tea online and I have no idea if I will have to pay taxes and how much; so right I don't know how "cheap" it is. About life being short...I guess that life seems too short as long as it is enjoyable.

The yutaka midori is very good tasting tea, the best fukamushi I have ever drinked, but it is a bit difficult for beginners, be sure to brew 6-7 gramms to 200 ml (7 oz) of water for only 40 sec, 2nd pour the water and asap pour it off, remember that the second infusion is tricky, because the leaf is opened up and heated so it brewes lighting fast, I recomend instant pour, 5-10 seconds until you lift and empty the teapot, and before you pour water be sure to tap the back of your kyusu (without the lid on) so that the leaves distribute evenly, and after the first infusion be sure to empty all water and leave the leaves as dry as possible for the second infusion, and do not put the lid on, put it on sideways so that the steam can escape after each infusion or else your tea will be brewed in the steam, let it escape, the smell of the leaves is fresh with citrus notes, so must be the infusion, and the second infusion is always cloudy green, I mean very green.
Good Luck

Anything I've ordered from O-Cha comes insanely fast through the mail. I've done both express shipping (from Japan to central/eastern Canada in 3 days!) and the regular one which takes about 7 days.

When it comes to taxes and all that:

US customs are pretty easy, I've only had one or two packages inspected that I am aware of and they charge no taxes. European customs, on the other hand - they want tax revenue. I had German customs send the parcel back not long ago because it was marked as a "gift" and I didn't include the invoice inside. I do that so the customer doesn't end up paying so much tax but those Germans are efficient!

I've never experienced any problems either.

I live in Israel and for years (almost monthly) I have received books, DVDs and CDs (mostly Amazon shops) from the USA , from France, from the United Kingdom; as long as the invoice is 50 US dollars and bellow I did not have to pay taxes but a week ago I paid taxes for a parcel with a 51.60 US dollars' invoice. On the other hand many times I have been lucky and received parcels with more than 50 US dollars invoices, even 80 US dollars without paying taxes.

Until today I have been very lucky with Japan: I received a dozen of DVDs from Amazon Japan , all with invoices above 50 UD dollars and I never paid taxes for them. I have no idea if there is a different tax policy for goods other than DVDs ,CDs and books. Next week I will know

I know all the people from the customs, they were students of my grandfather, so I NEVER pay taxes, and I live in the European Union, I should pay the same taxes as in Germany, even above 300 dollars I haven`t payed anything, and most of the times I never need to open the package in front of the customs.
