But if this method bothers you, you can always find a nice little digital scale. |
I prefer the "heaping" teaspoon method. By "spoon" do you mean the standard tea spoon or a green tea tea spoon like the Sakura Green Tea Teaspoon ? Is there any advantage using a Sakura Teaspoon instead a regular kitchen tea spoon? |

I mean a standard teaspoon.
I don't think there's any advantage to using the Sakura spoon. It just adds to the atmosphere (a regular spoon vs a Sakura spoon is basically the same as the Handy Teapot vs traditional teaset debate.) I have a spoon made for Sencha, but it doesn't make any difference in how the tea tastes or how its brewed.
Just use whatever spoon or gadget you find the most comfortable and most enjoyable to use. |

Yeah, what Okimasa said. I used the same kitchen spoon usually that I have for almost 10 years. I am very comfortable with it. The blade is thin and it glides into the tea with little resistance.
However, there is another advantage to using the same spoon regularly, you will be comfortable with how much tea it holds. Switching to another spoon can throw you off a little.
The sakura scoops are very cool. I have one. But I have not used it. It is part of a sakura display currently. Maybe one day I will start using it. |

BTW, I just weighed a rounded teaspoon of Fukamushi Supreme. just about 4 grams. Now a less dense tea would weigh less, maybe 3 grams.
Thus, a less dense tea leaf such as Kabusecha would require more volume of leaf, generally. |

I have just placed my first order from O-Cha.com: one package of Kagoshima Sencha Yutaka Midori, two Canisters and one Tokoname Teapot. I am very eager to prepare my first cup of tea and much more to improve my skills by trying the different Sencha teas of O-Cha.com.
Thank you very much for your time and for being so helpful. |
