Thanks for the update Chip. Hatsumi looks like a challenging tea, yet if one caresses her just right, untold riches are there to be enjoyed.
I for one look forward to spending quality time with Hatsumi. She will not let me down. One need only give her the proper attention and care. |

| Yeah, you definitely don't want to overbrew this year's Hatsumi. I agree with 160F for first steep. It turns out pretty well that way. |

| I just cracked open the yutaka midori shincha, I brewed it at a little over 165 for 1:30 with a "good amount" of leaf (a slightly rounded Ippodo plastic teaspoon). I must've gotten it right because this is probably the best sencha I've ever had. Amazingly fresh and really like the old Yutaka Midori but with an even better aroma and an amazing first two steeps. I don't really know how to describe the shincha from last year's in conventional tea tasting terms: it has more of a mellow tanginess and more of that kind of green citrusy aroma that's, at least to me, exclusive to the yutaka midori. Maybe a little less fukamushi-like. Really amazing. |

Alright, I was waiting for a couple reviews of this year's Yutaka Midori before ordering it. It sounds like it was a good harvest so I picked up a bag of that to go with my Miyabi. I need no review for Miyabi... |

| The Yukata Midori is better than last year, I think. It still has the best green color I've ever seen in a tea, it still has a wonderful sweetness, and it is even more flavorful than I remember last year's to be. Can't go wrong! |

| Yutaka Midori is definitely my favorite as well and I can't wait to receive the shincha version. I decided to add the Miyabi as well so I guess I have a little more waiting to do but I'm sure it will be well worth the wait. I've had both before and I personally thought that drinking the Midori was the most amazing tea experience I've ever had. It's been a couple of years since I've had the Miyabi so I don't remember it very well but it will be nice to compare the two. The only problem is I don't want to open both a the same time. So I guess the Midori will have to come first. |

Just don't add any sugar to your tea. |

Kagoshima Sencha Yutaka Midori
Ok, so I don't have a lot of experience with green teas...tea bag stuff and "Sencha" from Teavana, but mmmmmmm is this Midori good!!!!
Wow, it has so much flavor and it is not at all bitter. Great smell, beautiful color and an interesting citrusy hint at the end of a swallow.
Happy Sipping all,
