i really don't see what you guys are even talking about, this is the most ridiculous thread i have ever seen. people make tea and they sell it and we talk about it and share our advice.
ive never seen people get so argumentative about the production of green tea before... |

I've seen a lot of it on this forum. It may be that the chemicals found in some non-Japanese tea causes certain forum members to react this way.
If it bothers you, I'd just skip those threads and read some of the older ones. There's much good info there. |

Compared to most forum's I've seen, this one is rather tame. I have to agree however, this thread for the most part is ridiculous. The original question was a worthy one, but our pal Ian (who incidentally owns his own online tea shop) obviously had some vested interest in konnacha being something it isn't - high grade. Frankly, konnacha is no big deal, I doubt most members of this forum would really be all that enthused with drinking it in the first place as it's not exactly high grade. Personally, I'd rather drink bancha.
Whatever, let's move on. |

The only 'dissenting' question I saw here was someone wondering if all tea sold as kona cha really was JUST tea leavings. (And I don't see what 'high grade' vs 'low grade' had to do with anything, low grade sencha that has been powdered purposely would be less desirable than the leavings of a high grade sencha or gyokuro... certainly by me)
Seems most of you have decided it is just tea leavings and see any further musings/pondering/discussion as pointless and ridiculous.
I'm not so convinced. Thankfully, I don't have to rely on this forum to find out more.
I came to this website because I was interested in this particular subject.
What I've quickly learnt is that if you don't toe the line and accept unquestioningly the wisdom dispensed here you are labelled as argumentative and ridiculed.
I have no vested interest in anything. I merely wondered where the line is drawn between what is sold as 'powdered sencha' and 'kona cha' (this stems from a discussion in another board that chip also seems to frequent). I had no idea this would be regarded as heretical nor abrasive.
I believe that if people here really were interested in green tea they would understand that the borders between what is marketed as powdered green tea and kona cha are extremely fuzzy ones. Hopefully, I've demonstrated that those of us who are confused are not alone. (Though not to all, as some of you will no doubt feel comforted, validated even, by believing I am the same poster as Ian or someone who knows him)
If one needs to accept what is said here without a murmur (even if it is from a senior member) then I also have no interest in this forum. I certainly have nothing further to add to this or any other discussion on this website. No doubt this will be cause for relief and delight here. Enjoy your cul-de-sac. |

Did anyone ever claim "MoGa" had a vested interest in anything? I was referring to "Ian." Or are they one and the same? Kind of odd that two people would care so much about this lame topic at the same time.

This is an incorrect assumption on your part, Ian, or whatever your name is.

I was just going to give him the "No one likes you, go home."
Anyways, Kevin is like our drug dealer, so we do have to listen to him. |

Not to , but I thought this might be of interest. BTW, MoGa is using the other tea forum for his/her ranting now. :/ |

That's really bizarre, I can't imagine what the big hang-up is. Sounds like OCD or something. Heck, even Chip doesn't stress over this and he's the one with the pimp fridge!
