About Uji Gyokuro Shou-Un, what temperature are you using for 2nd
and 3rd infusions and how long? This Shou-Un is “divine elixir”.
Been brewing for 2 days since it arrived and want to brew
“just-right”. The aroma is wonderful! |

| Personally, my first brew is 140F. But with subsequent brews I find the temperature is not as critical. 145F-150F works well... For the third I think I have even gone up to 155-160F. Experimentation may find what is ideal. |

| I think it depends on how much tea you are using. My preference is to go real heavy on the tea, but keep the temperature low. I'll go as low as 130 or even 125 sometimes for the first fusion. Then, on the second, you can still get a great gyokuro out of 130....Remember the higher temperature pulls out a whole different flavor. But either way, I find that by the third the "Gyokuro-ness" is pretty much tapped out. It might taste like tea, but it's not gyokuro. I usually only enjoy two steepings. |
