I have not yet had the pleasure of trying hand picked sencha. I'd be curious for anyone who has sampled this limited edition offering, how does it compare to Miyabi sencha?

Flavor, aroma, etc.

This new shincha very much reminds me of Miyabi. I'd say it's more intense green than Miyabi and it is also pretty grassy. The needles are darker green and really shiny. That said, I can't really say it's better than Miyabi except for perhaps for the color.

Sounds and looks tastey. As soon as the 2007 Kabusecha is available for order, I will probably get the Miyabi, Kabuse, and some hand picked Uji leaf.

I guess this is Uji leaf since it is a Tsuen sencha.

Kevin, any other interesting sencha when you were in Uji?

I received my Kirameki today and i've had a couple of cups by now. The leaves themselves don't have that really strong smell that the Miyabi leaves have (when you smell inside the package). The grassy taste of the tea is also more subtle.

Really nice tea alltogether I think.

I can't wait to get the Tsuen hand picked shincha. It is going to be a fascinating adventure into the world of sencha.
