this is the first gyokuro from o-cha for me. It smells delicious and makes excellent brew. However, It took me quite some experimenting before I was able to make really good cups.
this is how i do it now
-heat teapot
-empty teapot
-add 2 tablespoons gyokuro to teapot
-add water 380ml/130F to teapot (cup is 300ml), i add it gently, along the side of the teapot, i discovered this does make a difference
-wait 3.5min and heat teacup
-empty teacup and very gently pour the gyokuro from teapot until cup is filled about 80-90%
-add boiling water to cup, filling it up
-remove the remaining water water from the pot, this isn't that much, most of it is taken up by the gyokuro leaf.
i repeat this for the 2nd infusion, without heating the pot obviously, only with a watertemp of 140F
3rd infusion havent been able to make anything nice of it
I did not read about adding boiling water to the brew, but i really like my tea to be "hot". My brew, before I add the boiling water, is a bit stronger than its supposed to be, this way the final mix is just right.
I was curious how other people do it. |
