Hello All,

I have a box of tea bags from Japan, and I'm trying to find out exactly what kind of tea it is. The only english on the box is "Sidium Gavacha Tea Bag." When I did a google search for "sidium gavacha," however, nothing came up.

The tea itself is interesting; it tastes/smells like green tea but with an added scent I can't define. It reminds me a bit like a dandelion or other flower that isn't exactly known for it's lovely smell. Kind of grassy, but also a bit medicinal and sickly sweet.

Perhaps someone can shed some light on this issue?

Thanks!

Welcome shifty,
I found a tea called Sodium Gawacha Tea. Perhaps it is the same thing. It seems to contain flax seed and perhaps flowers. I could not access much other info. But maybe this will help.
Perhaps Kevin, the site administrator can interpret the words since he also speaks Japanese.

By the way, the line underneath "Sidium Gavacha Tea Bag" is this:

シジユウムグアバ茶テイ一バツグ

It's guava tea? Hmm, interesting...

Thanks for the welcome, Chip. Where did you find a reference to "sodium gawacha," by the way?

shiftychica,

You are welcome for the welcome...lol.

I just googled. I only got match...well it asked, "did you mean" and it gave me only one match which would not open anyway.

But anyway, I hope you give sencha a try. It is awesome. O-Cha has some great offerings.
