|
|
| I was thinking about this tonight - for traveling, a perfect accessory for me would be a compact, 3-piece tea set to serve one. It would consist of a cup, a 1-cup pot, and a container for tea. They would, ideally, nest and be very compact, while being nigh on indestructible and aesthetically pleasing. I get the feeling like I'm barking up a tree that hasn't been planted yet, but I figure I'd ask and find out to make sure. Does anything like this exist anywhere? If not, I may just start designing one. Heck, even if it does I may do so. Thanks! |

| I was looking at that earlier tonight and I must say I am tempted. I was working on this idea at work today, and the mechanics of nesting those 3 things seems to end up with a lot of compromises, so now I'm thinking more in the direction of finding appropriately-sized elements and building a fine, custom-fitted wooden box for them, trying to keep things compact and tasteful. |

| Jenaer Glass out of Germany makes a Teetasse "tea for one". The tea pot is the actual cup and it comes complete with a cover and wire mesh infuser. The cup will hold up to 10.1 oz. (3.1 l.) of tea. It is perfect for traveling. Perhaps you could inquire with o-cha.com for this product.Teapot T3 - Red Tokoname |

| These actually exist in Japan as I have seen them. They may not be indestructible, though. Some have three cups that nest and a 'handleless' teapot with lid. The largest cup can serve as a 'water cooler'. All nest inside the teapot. If you reply I can probably find out where to get one. I remember they are not cheap, being hand-made. |

...click here, and you will see the ultimate of portable japanese teasets, top of the top All the pieces are made by different artists - each a famous master of his field. The set is not for sale and is privately owned. 10,000 US$ would not make you close to even the laquered box itself. And yeah - the calabash is the red thread. |

Hello Mars
That set would be my dream come true! (Oh if money was no abject! ) I have my own travel set or "nodate" for matcha. It contains my chasen, chasen holder and folding spoon of which arranges nicely in it's japanese bag with a basket bottom. Thank you for posting the link!
