I just got a sample of Rishi's organic bancha from a local grocery store as my first experience with my beloved sencha's big and mellow older brother. I brewed some up tonight in my under-utilized tetsubin using a fair amount of leaf and more Den's style brewing with boiling water for about a minute or so without keeping track. To my complete surprise, after recovering from burning the tip of my tongue, i noticed not only references to good old o-cha from Japan but also a taste most certainly along the lines of a medium-oxidized Taiwanese oolong (esp. Rishi's Dong Ding if you dig).

Maybe I'm going off the deep end, or maybe its something with big greenish tea leaves, but has anyone else even remotely experienced this strange bridge in the tea-space continuum??
