Hi,
One of my favorite things about green tea is the nice buzz it gives after about twenty minutes of drinking it. I wanted to see what peoples experience with the mental effects of green tea was, and how it makes you feel after you've had your fix. My mind becomes quiet and i feel very peaceful and alert after my fix....Just wanted to open up a discussion on how it makes you feel..... |

| I use to feel high, like high on green tea, stimulated, like a rabbit on cocain, I mentioned later that it made my nose bleed the first time I O.D.-d on gyokuro, and when I run out of tea I crave for it, I am very tired and in a bad mood when I don`t drink tea and I get irritated and I cannot focus when working. I am an addict, usually two times a day I need my fix and I feel fine. |

Green tea affects me in a few ways. From the very first sip, I suddenly feel like I have the energy to accomplish anything. It really helps me focus too. In a sense, it feels almost like a fog around me has been lifted and I now realise and see all that's going on around me.
But the green tea is only part of it. I also enjoy the ritualistic process of actually making the tea. Pouring the water, measuring the leaf, it all brings about a sense of peace and balance. This is especially true when I make Matcha. I get everything in perfect place, I attempt to make every action smooth and meaningful, it feels almost cleansing.
For Matcha, its clear it helps with energy. If I were to go out biking or running, there is a drastic difference in energy and stamina when I have Matcha before I go. Or if I need to put a lot of brain power into something, Matcha really works.
For me, green tea has become so important, its become as essential as water in my daily life. |

| I don't really feel any immediate, direct affect from tea when I drink it, other than it satisfies my appetite for it. However, long term I feel much better overall than I did several years ago before I drank it daily. I didn't feel there was anything wrong with me before, but after drinking green tea for about three years now, and the good stuff for about a year, I am calmer and more relaxed. I have more energy and although I never got as much sleep as they say you should, now I don't feel like I need any more. I think green tea helps us relax and that relaxation is great for health and results in less sleep being required. |

lol I feel the same way. I have a theory for the phenomenon though. Your normal, you drink tea, your mental ability is improved. So when you dont have tea I and you feel like your retarded. I feel this way very much. Its like taking a blind fold off and being able to see again. The main effect though that I feel is a great sense of well being and a meditative state.I believe tea drinking contributes to a overall clarity of mind and objective judgment in all human affairs. Taken and modified from Albert. |

| i become more alert with green tea but in kind of a laid back way. it makes me want to sit around and think or have a good nap. i always have the best afternoon naps after a few steeps of a good sencha. it baffles me how someone could get energized or hyped up from green tea. and i agree with britt about the long term effects too. i feel much better mentally and generally healthier and don't get sick anywhere near as often as i did when i didn't drink tea. |
