| I think we agree Kevin - prevention is the best step. And as for the picture they already took, it's not worth the cost of getting an attorney involved (at least it wouldn't be for me), but it sounds to me like Space has yet to actually show a serious bluff. Have you Space? |

The thing is, I only care so much about this. Yes, I care enough to post the situation on forums in hopes of making things dificult for the company, but that's as far as it goes. I certainly wouldn't sue over a tea picture (particularly one that's not even my best).
Litigation is not my thing. Maybe if a company was using my work to make lots of money, I might pop up and say, where's my cut? But its an eBay company doing shoddy business. It looks like the guy googled tea and just nabbed some pictures he could use, probably without giving it a second thought.
Watermarks, not my thing either. I'd rather everyone enjoy the pictures fully.
Thing is if the company had just asked, I would have said yes and perhaps asked for tea samples of what my pictures were being used for just to call it even. That's the biggest reason I didn't want to let this just slide. Too many tea companies do me the courteousy and go to the trouble of sending tea samples, I don't want a free-loader. Its not fair to the other guys. That and I think it would be wicked if a company said, "hey, I like your blog' if we send you tea, will you take pictures for us." Won't happen, but
That's all the posturing I did. Pretending I was outraged, when mostly it just got on my nerves. |
