With all this talk about Twinings tea, I went to the UK website.

Quote:
Twinings use only the finest green teas in Pure Green Tea, blended to produce a light, fresh tasting tea that is golden in colour.

Does anyone know what quality of green tea they use? (and from where?)

puke i don't think that's something i'd want to be drinking, i prefer my tea to be green, hence the name green tea.

If it's something you can compare to Lipton like that than you should probably never speak of it again, because Lipton is disgusting, and you need to try real Japanese green tea. Also there is no such thing as a good green tea which can be found on the grocery store shelf...

O-cha has a wonderful selection of Japanese green teas. Also, you may have a local Asian market in your area, but it can be a bit of "hit or miss" depending on which market you go to.

I cannot say for sure what brands to look for. To be honest, I don't have an Asian market near me, but a number of people I know have had sucess with them.

By the way, you should review the guidelines to this forum... There is no spam in this link or thread.

Established members are permitted to post non self promoting links to competitors' sites.

But even your avatar reeks of self promoting spam.

Using a site paid for by a competitor even in the loosest sense for promoting a product you clearly have a stake in is lacking ethics...or class. It will not be permitted either.

This is a forum for discussing all aspects of tea. This is clearly not the site for posting Twinings corporate propaganda...it won't fly here. Hidden agendas will be seen for what they are.

And before you say it...I have no affiliation with O-Cha. I am a Moderator of the forum.

yes I've read that 5 posts and 1 month makes you "established". that's fine. Yes, I did violate a few rules before, I apologize for that, you won't find me doing that anymore.

But even your avatar reeks of self promoting spam.

not violating any rules there. i personally like Twinings green tea despite how you all may feel about it. I also like other store-bought commercial tea brands probably due to my lack of exposure to "real" tea

first of all I don't need a lesson in ethics. i happen to be a tea lover myself, and I feel the Twinings blog has alot of good information and I'm simply sharing this with this tea community.

This is a forum for discussing all aspects of tea. This is clearly not the site for posting Twinings corporate propaganda...it won't fly here. Hidden agendas will be seen for what they are.

in case you haven't noticed, i'm not promoting any of Twinings' products in any of my posts, and i hardly consider it propaganda. I'm not saying go try Twinings green tea, go buy it. I'm posting informative and educational posts related to the focus of this site.

I think these commercial tea brands are good, beacause they draw the attention of the crowds, and keeps them from experiencing great tea, so more of the good stuff remains for us, if more people would search for good quality tea the demand would spoil the quality because of the mass production, imagine if the demand for gyokuro would go up sky-high, even in Laos they would produce fake, knock off gyokuro, and the real thing would become too expencieve, so everybody please entjoy the poor quality tea your local supermarket sells you, and leave the good stuff to the cunosier.
