So, is a Tokoname Teapot the best for Sencha? I got one from Hibiki an. I ask because, it seems that with Chinese teas the type of tea pot can make a big difference.

I think the general consensus is that tokoname teapots are the best for sencha. The unglazed clay cuts down on bitterness.

Pick one you think you will enjoy looking at and using! I think the aesthetic experience of your teaware is a big part of brewing tea.

Tokoname teapots are made from special material, just like yixing, the clay has caolin content ( the material of porcelain) so it is very strong and it absorbs the teas flavor so use it only for japanese green tea, my hohryu from hibiki has a nice grassy smell, and the smell is getting stronger as the month go by, and it is said that it absorbs bitterness, and for deep steamed tea the best tipe of teapot acording to ujitea, is the teapot that has a strainer before the sprout.
