| I am just finishing up my first can of matcha (yum - I'm hooked!) and started my second and am wondering what everyone does when they get to the bottom so as not to waste all that powdery goodness clinging to the sides or bottom. I made matcha salt by adding some kosher flakes to the can and shaking up, but are there any other creative ways to go? |

I usually just eat it, but now I'm looking forward to trying some of the ideas listed here.
Hmm... what else can I combine w/ matcha? |

I hold it over the matcha bowl and bang the sides (of the can, not the bowl!). Some of the matcha loosens and drops into the bowl. Some doesn't. I then throw the can away, or if it's Uji Matcha Manten I rinse it out, dry it, and use it for other purposes like transporting small amounts of loose leaf tea to work. The Manten cans are high quality, well sealed, and very reuseable.
I suppose when making the last bowl of matcha from a can, you could add hot water to the near-empty can and then dump it into the matcha bowl. This should save some of it. |
