My tokoname teapot from artistic nippon arrived today, and I was pleased to notice it influencing change in the character of my tea.

1. The tea's taste lingers in the back of my throat long after I swallow.
2. Bitterness and Astringency are reduced.
3. The tea feels "smoother" and more voluminous.

Has anyone else noticed these (or any other) differences when brewing in a tokoname vs another kind of pot?

I have not only noticed a difference between kyuusu from Tokaname versus others, but between the Tokaname made by different craftsman as well. I have consistently noticed a significant improvement in the taste of tea when brewed in kyuusu by Hokojo compared to those made by many others names in Tokaname. I have noticed that the Hokujo kyuusu tend to be thin and light, and there appears to be a lot of iron in the clay. Hokujo seems to be an expert on his craft as well as tea. Buying a pot from an artist who doesn't drink tea can result in a very nice looking pot that isn't functional or practical, or actually brews tea poorly. Purchasing a pot from an artist who is also an expert craftsman and has a strong knowledge of and experience with tea can make a noticeable improvement in our tea-drinking experience.
