How do you clean a Tokoname Tea pot? Do you just use dish soap and water or???
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I never use any detergent cleaner on any non glazed teaware...PERIOD.
I rinse, rinse and rinse...especially the spout. I then just put it in the dish drainer with the spout pointing directly down. Every so often, I do a little spout cleaning with eith a toothpick or a Q-tip.
Any detergent has the potential to be absorbed by porous clay. Bleh...soapy tea.

| To prevent scale and mineral deposits, after I'm done rinsing the pot in the sink, I rinse it with boiling water. If you get the pot hot enough, most of the water should immediately evaporate. |

I recently used a cloth and baking soda to clean a ceramic teapot of mine.
The extensive tea stains didn't seem so desireable. Many don't ever clean their ware - like I do. But, for this ceramic pot, I thought it would be prudent. |
