You already know I did. It took I guess 4-5 days to get to PA.
The dry leaf aroma is remarkable.
There is nothing shy about this one. Very full flavored and very pleasantly intense! Really outstanding. Not a lot of leaf is needed...I would say 3.5-4 grams per 6 ounces water.
I also tried the Fukamushi today. Really amazing, lacking the intensity of Miyabi, but again very full flavored. But smoother, it is amazingly smooth. A little more leaf than Miyabi. 4.5 grams per 6 ounces would be ideal for me.
I thought they were both outstanding. They are both top notch, 5 stars!!! |

Well, I am still waiting on my order since it became in stock. I have emailed twice about it but never got a response. I hope my order of shincha comes soon. |

We have a pretty aggressive spam filter in place, you usually have to respond to an email once with a code. We get 100's of spam messages a day, I wish there were another way.
All Miyabi were shipped on the 19th, Japan time. |

So there is really no way of contacting the company by email? Don't get me wrong, I work in the technology field so I understand all about spam, but if it inhibits communication with customers, then it might drive them away. Maybe you could put a contact form on your contact page? That will probably solve most of your problems with customers trying to communicate with you. I guess I will just call you on Skype next time. I need to call outside the U.S. in order to use the money on my account.
The last time (my replacement order), it took one week (7 days). I ordered other shincha, so I guess they will all come on Tuesday...since Monday is Memorial Day. I suppose it still might come tomorrow. |

If the Miyabi was shipped on the 19th, then it took 3 days to reach me, not the 4-5 I posted above.
OK, round 2. I have maybe 1 or 2 more sessions, having shipped out around 20 samples of this today.
I paid a little more attention this time. I eased up on the amount of leaf as well. 4.25 grams per 200 ml. 168* started pouring at 75 seconds and slowly endling the pour at 90 seconds.
The liquid is mostly yellow with a hint of green. I spent a good minute smelling the brew before sipping because I was a little stunned...I was picking up a light toasty background, slightly barley. This was not assertive, just very comforting, pleasing.
The taste confirms the presence of this faint toasty barley background. It is sweet, not as intence as yesterday. It has a grainy character this time for sure. This seems quite different than years past. My thoughts as I was sipping the first steep, knowing I only had a little left, were centered on the need to get more of this.
I am not sure if this was a fluke, but this character was noticable through the first 3 steeps, though fading, make that through 4 as I continue to sip.
The liquor is full bodied, but not thick like fukamushi, yellow colors dominate each steep, but some green hints show up, further differentiating Miyabi from Fukamushi Supreme or Yutaka Midori which tend to have green 2nd and 3rd steeps.
I also noticed a significant caffeine kick yesterday and today from Miyabi.
I hope I have enough for 2 more sessions, I am really curious now. Yesterday, I went with 4.5 grams with 180 ml, thus the higher intensity yesterday. I also think the slower pour today helped tone it down a little. I will reduce amount of leaf further or temp next time.
Regardless...it is REALLY GOOD!!!

Sheesh, I missed that Help Zone link when I flew by the contact page. As already stated, using the form should allow penetration through the spam filter.
Well, a little after 11:00, the mailman brought my package. He seemed excited as I was! |

Miyabi arrived yesterday. I just brewed a full pot and it is wonderful. I wouldn't change a thing about it.
Cheers! |

| I just received my miyabi and midori. I decided to try the miyabi first because it has been a couple of years since I've had it. The first thing that surprised me was how green the brew was. I thought I remembered it being more of a pale yellowish-green. The first infusion was very aromatic and grassy. The second had more of a vegetal flavor but still a beautiful green color. This also surprised me because I am used to more vegetal flavors on first infusions and more herbs and spices on the second. The third infusion maintained the green color with faint aroma and a simpler flavor. It is very enjoyable but I can't wait to open my favorite, yutaka midori. |

I was surprised how sweet the Miyabi shincha is. It kind of stunned me a bit. The range of flavors is equally astounding.
Miyabi is awesome this year.
But I need to know...am I the only psycho who noticed a faint barley toastiness. It added to the sweetness and definitely added a new dimension.
The colors I recall were more yellow with hints of green. Certainly not remotely similar to Fukamushi Supreme or YM which displayed far more green...almost in the realm of matcha.
Perhaps I am using less leaf than others. |

This is my 2nd bag of miyabi 2008 and i think its really different than the miyabi of last year.
Whereas last years miyabi had a really grassy aftertaste, the new miyabi has more of a nutty/earthy taste.
Anyone else had this experience? |
