A horribly unfortunate accident caused the fragile handle of my tokoname kyusu to break into three pieces . Theres no small pieces missing or anything and its a part of the teapot that never gets in contact with tea so I thought of gluing it back together (function over form). Has anyone experieced a similar cruelty of fate and done a sucessful repair (and with what materials?) or should I start looking for another teapot?
Well, my only suggestion is to use something strong. Epoxy or Gorilla glue, I guess. Regular superglue may work, but I'm not sure if it would hold up 10oz (or whatever) of water.
Just an update: I bought some normal superglue in a little bottle from a drug store (according to the package good for ceramics) and applied it fairly lightly to the cracks in my tokoname handle, held the three pieces together for a minute, and let it sit overnight before using it. I've since used the teapot without a problem for the past few weeks. When it first happened I was already planning on buying a new teapot but I'm really glad that I waited and tried to repair it; besides the few subtle crack marks (which I like to think add some zen charm), it's the same as it ever was.
