Uji Matcha Kiku Mukashi
I lately started to drink Matcha as an addition to espresso, but after a while found that Matcha is quite good substitute for espresso (its actually better as a mental alertness booster).
The thing is I started to have concerns whether I consume too much of it (3-4 cups a day), with espresso daily consumption of 4 double shots are definitely not good for your system and sooner or later one will start to feel the negative effects.
How much green tea do people drink in Japan, especially Matcha, I’m sure someone did a study there and gave recommendation of what should be the limit. |

3 or 4 bowls of matcha... My opinion would be that if you are not feeling any negative effects from it, it doesn't seem necessarily excessive.
But, if you're drinking other caffeinated beverages in addition to the 3 - 4 bowls of matcha, that may be a bit much. Matcha is very high in caffeine. It also, of course, depends on how much matcha you use per serving.
I'm thinking of all the unhealthy things people consume, and as a result, 3 to 4 cups of matcha doesn't seem like an issue. Of course, I'm no doc. And the matcha certainly seems far and away healthier than espresso. |

| I'll drink about four bowls of matcha, koicha, by the way, so twice as much tea, in about half an hour. I guess it depends on your own tollerance for caffiene, but I don't think there is a problem. |
