I am drinking tons of green tea and I have seen zero weight loss. This is fine as weight loss is not a reason why I drink green tea. However, many people are drawn to green tea and oolongs due to weight loss claims that I believe are fictional.

I've been drinking green tea daily for the last couple of years, and higher quality green tea for about six months. I seriously upped the quantity I drink daily once I tasted the good stuff.

Many people comment on my weight loss. However, a trip to the scale shows there isn't any. This happened again on Thanksgiving day. Someone asked how much I weighed and I replied 235. They said no way, you can't weigh that much. Others agreed. My 11 year old neice, apparently smarter than we adults, decided we should stop arguing and that I should get on a scale to settle the matter. I did, and I weighed 235 just as I have for the last several years.

I should comment that a few years ago if I said I weighed 235 I would have gotten less arguments. I also must admit that the same size clothes fit better. It does actually appear that I have lost weight, but since scales don't lie I think the weight has just relocated to more appropriate places. To me, this may be more of a benefit than just simple weight loss.

Green tea has many real benefits, and I have personally witnessed some of them either on myself or others. However, I have no proof whatsoever that the weight loss claims are truthful. Usually if someone drinks green tea and loses weight, further examination finds that they have also increased excercise or reduced calorie consumption.
