Hello, I have previously bought a lot of sencha ++ from o-cha.com and I greatly appreciate it.
I'm now considering a tea pot, tokoname green. It seems that all the pots have the strainer built in. How do I get the leaves out?
Untill now, I've always simply used three cups for preparing, including a simple strainer. "Boil water, water into brewing cup, water into cooling cup, leaves into brewing cup, 75 celcius water over leaves, wait, tea from brewing cup over mesh/strainer and into drinking cup"
This is very simple, and the leaves just stay in the strainer.
Now, while considering the teapot, I'm wondering: if I make more tea than the amount of the cup i'm using, wouldn't then the rest of the tea in the pot get over-infused? I'm also considering a set of two cups "green stripe tea cup set". Will the pot i'm considering serve about two cups?
And Kevin/admin: The tea sent from japan is always marked as "gift", quite good, because then I don't have to pay extra taxes (i live in norway), and the tea shows up in my mailbox without any hazzle.
cheers,
Nils |

I'm sure there are more good answers to these questions, but this is how i use my teapot (the black one from o-cha).

When i'm done with the leaves, i add water, shake it around and turn the pot upside down. When leaves stay behind, repeat. Now the question is where to dispose of this. You dont want water in your thrashbin and you dont want tea leaves clogging your sink. My desk is right next to the window so i dispose of it in my garden

yes it will, thats why you dont leave water inside the pot after serving. you will use your pot as a brewing container only. Dont use more water than the amount you want to serve. Just use the cups to add the water to the pot, so you know you're ok. This will preheat your cups as an added bonus |

I also use a serving pitcher and dispense ALL the liquid from my kyusu into that...then into my cup. I do this since unfortuanately I generally drink tea alone. |

| Chip, do you find that by pouring your tea into a serving pitcher it cools your tea down too much? |

As long as I am actively drinking and not allowing it to sit, it is actually perfect for drinking.
Dr. One, I don't mind drinking all my tea, but it would be nice to share the experience every so often with other afficionados...this would not only be social, but educational as well since each person can bring different nuances into the whole tea experience. |
