Hello,

I've just joined this forum and am glad to have finally found one that is focussing on green tea. Great work!

My question regards the purchasing of gyokuro tea. My local tea shop (Jeffersons Tea in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia) stocks one type, which can only be purchased in a sealed 50gram package for $43.00 Australian dollars. I know that Gyokuro is among the most pricey teas, but does it vary much between estates etc?

Also, are there any gyokuro teas that someone can recommend or avoid? (And available to be delivered to Australia?)

$43 AU = $33 US, for 50 gm, that comes to $66 for 100 grams. Notes:

There "are" some gyokuros out there that would rate a price that high, but not many. For that price, it better be one fine gyokuro (it could be.)

My current supplier lists 10 levels of gyokuro, and then goes down to Kabusecha. Yes, there is quite wide price range.

Our current highest quality gyokuro runs $44.95 for 100 grams. We used to carry one for $50.95 but much of the price difference had to do with the name value of it.

I am quite confidant in the quality of our gyokuro, you may want to consider this one:

Green Tea G200 -Uji Gyokuro "Gyoku-Hou" $20 cheaper, probably as good, a good chance it could be better.
