Well let's see. I am quite fond of Japanese food. Asian food in general is my favorite type of food. I love Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese food.

Japanese ranks number one generally.

Naturally, I love sushi of all kinds.

But I also love udon noodle soup and tempura of all kinds. I love miso soup. I love ramen noodles. I've sampled in particular udon noodle soup, tempura and ramen noodles from many restaurants and have my favorites. I love good Japanese white rice. I love chicken with ponzu sauce, ginger pork, gyozo which are pork dumplings etc.

Really, I like all Japanese food, whether mackeral with vegetables or famed sushi. There is something very clean and fresh about Japanese style cuisine and I'm a huge fan. Certainly, eating it here in America it may have some Americanized underpinnings to various degrees but as of what I've had I really appreciate Japanese food. I'm sure if I was in Japan I would love the food even more. However, thanks to O-cha.com I get to drink the very best tasting Japanese tea without being in Japan!

One of these days I'd like to visit Japan, and when I do I'm going to drink sencha all day and eat Japanese food every meal. Sounds grand I'd say!

Ryan, have you ever watched Iron Chef (not iron chef america) on the food channel. I love that show. Japanese cuisine and a lot of fusion cuisine.
I went to Morimotos He is one of the Iron Chefs, both the original series and Iron Chef America) in Phillie...it was incredible. My meal was 9 courses...many sushi, sashini and the like. The food would come to the table just like on the show. He is opening a second in NY.

Hi Chip. I have seen Iron Chef and I love the food network. Certainly one of the best cable networks on television today.

As of now I have no cable and my tv is not hooked up even for basic channels. Not too much tv watching these days. I tell you one thing however, I'd take fine tea over cable any day of the week!

Oh, that dining experiene you cite sounds other wordly. Would be perfect if at the end of the meal they served a pot of Yutaka Midori.

My favorite Japanese food is sashimi. I like a good glob of wasabi with it, which I plunk into the soy sauce and stir in well. Then I allow each piece of fish to marinate for about 15 to 30 seconds.

Pure heaven. Mr. Green

Unfortunately, I live in the country about 40 miles from the nearest sushi place. This makes me very Sad .

Prussian, learn to make your own...that would make you very Very Happy .

Ryan, Morimotos fell short on the tea end...surprise surprise. They did have a rather nodescript sencha though drinkable...tea bag. They were too into selling drinks for mega$$$. You gotta stick to tea rooms I guess if you want good tea out.

Thanx, Kevin. I "borrowed it" until I could get one of your teas from the site to work...yours had too many pixels and the file was too large.
You could add your teas, etc to your avatars offered under profile.

I saw that you bumped that new post about coca tea pretty quick.

We are already tea addicts...we don't need to be coke(tea)heads too. Laughing

I would except that I have no access to fresh fish. I live deep in the country. The trade-off is worth it. I live a peaceful life and sashimi has become a real treat when I have it. Smile

Sashimi/sushi quality fish is hard to come by and $$$$$. I usually have to compromise and prepare it rare in a very hot pan.
Tonight I made rare tuna steak in a ginger, orange, soy sauce marinade, seared over high heat, sliced thinly and placed over matcha "sticky" rice....in all modesty i can truely say, it was sooo freakin' good....

I eat sushi nearly everyday here in Japan, it's not that expensive here!

Yeah, the coca nitwit - was that off the wall or what? He tried hard but it's just not going to fly here. He also tried to do that on my blog. I'm constantly amazed by the number of people who want to use this as a springboard for their new enterprise. They kept spamming their links in their profiles and also signatures so I had to get rid of signatures and also the memberlist.

Then there was the guy who thought the CIA was after him...

Yikes! shock I could never cook my fish. That would make me cry. I have to have it still flopping around.
